Red Velvet and Lace Dance Costumes

These red velvet and lace dance costumes are honestly some of my favorite! I feel slightly guilty even saying that because I do love everything that leaves my sewing room…but I would like a ball gown version of this costume for myself.

The bodice of this costume is made of stretchy red velvet (actually its velour). The neckline and sleeves are a nude mesh with red lace appliques to add some zing. There are 4 of them, each with a different applique pattern.

My ball gown version would have the same velour for the bodice and skirt. The gown would have a sweet heart neckline. There would be a small train decorated with the lace appliques beginning with a trail at the small of your back and getting heavier at the bottom of the skirt. The lace appliques would be heavy on one shoulder and trail down each arm. Now I just need to find somewhere to wear said ball gown…

Mermaid inspired custom dance costumes

Here are some dance costumes I finished last week. I think they look kind of like mermaids with the “scales” on top and flowy skirt. The skirt is made from 6 layers of torn chiffon sewn to stretchy nude mesh. I made 12 of these costumes for Studio A in Southlake.

Tiffany inspired dance costumes

Here is a costume that I have been working on for Studio A of Southlake. The dance is to Your Song and the costumes are inspired by Tiffany & Co. I made matching booty shorts for the ladies to wear under the dresses. This picture doesn’t show it too well, but the rolled hem is shorter on the front and longer in the back. I made 7 dresses and shorts for these sweet young ladies. They will compete in them next weekend – best of luck to each of you!
